(Washington, D.C.) - Associate Pastor Deborah Evans is on a mission. Her goal is to make sure every child of God is empowered and living life to its fullest. The Washington, D.C. native and Andersonville Theological Seminary graduate is determined to inspire and motivate everyone who comes in her path. Through her organization, Victorious Living Now and her debut writing, First Things First, she's certainly on her way to fulfilling that mission.
Associate Pastor of Emmanuel Covenant Church in Hyattsville, Maryland, under the pastorate of Timothy Seay, Evans is the Dean of the church's Emmanuel Bible Institute, New Members Orientation, Director of Missions/Outreach, and head of the Altar Ministry, among other responsibilities. It was her passion for uplifting people, specifically women - which started as a leadership role at her home church - that inspired her to establish Victorious Living Now.
Started in 2001, Victorious Living Now is a teaching ministry which shares its message via seminars, conferences, a radio ministry, a Mentoring Institute, and an outreach program, Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel). A certified life coach, Evans' organization has touched the lives of hundreds of women assisting them with physical and spiritual needs. She has a burden to see women confidently embrace their uniqueness and confront and conquer obstacles to live a fulfilling, purposeful life.
Her roadmap for success is detailed in her debut writing, First Things First. Designed to help every Christian prioritize what many of us feel are hectic lives, she outlines ten points to help prioritize the Christian life. Using tips directly from scripture, Evans provides crucial keys to keeping "First Things First". Topics like praying and studying are mentioned in practical ways. The book helps to refocus the busy Christian on what's truly important.
She says, "First Things First was written out of a desire to remind believers to always go back to the main thing. Many times in our walk with God, we're always looking for the bigger and the deeper things, but we're not able to move forward because we're stuck with unforgiveness or we lack integrity. First Things First is a reminder that no matter where we are in our walk with God, the main thing will always be to seek first His kingdom. And out of the kingdom and making Him a priority, everything else will flow."
But Evans believes that many people's lives are not flowing in the abundance God has promised. "I believe people have things they think about; they all have dreams and things they hope for. But I don't find many people who rise up and do something about those dreams. Many have wishful moments, but they don't have the tools. Not having someone in their corner or alongside of them to empower them and say, 'Go for it; rise up and take it.' I want to be that person to help take them to that place in their lives that God wants them to be."
